Kraft Foods originated from the cheese company James L. Kraft founded in Chicago in 1903, delivering cheese door-to-door from a horse-drawn wagon. The company introduced the first commercially produced processed cheese in 1916 and grew into one of the largest food conglomerates in American history. Today the consumer-packaged-goods business operates as Kraft Heinz. The Jet-Puffed marshmallow brand, which Kraft acquired in 1985, is the best-selling marshmallow product in the United States. The Fantasy Fudge recipe printed on the back of every 7-oz Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme jar has been made by American home bakers since at least the early 1970s and is considered one of the most-replicated holiday confections in the country. A 7-oz jar of Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme retails for about $2.50–3.00 at most grocery stores.
