Old El Paso — which grew out of the Mountain Pass Canning Company (started ~1917 in Deming, NM) and took its name in 1938 — is the brand that put taco night in American kitchens. Its seasoning packets and hard-shell taco kits introduced Tex-Mex cooking to millions of home cooks starting in the 1960s.
