Chuy's is the Austin-born Tex-Mex chain founded in 1982 by John Zapp and Mike Young in a former dog kennel on Barton Springs Road — named for a mutual friend, Jesus 'Chuy' Treviño. Famous for enormous portions, funky décor, and the free creamy jalapeño dip that arrives with every table's chips and is poured over their green chile enchiladas.
